Assistant Business Unit Manager

Summary/Objective:
The Assistant Business Unit Manager must focus on assisting the Business Unit Manager (BUM) with customers' expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers, and other employees.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading others in a manufacturing environment and can act as a champion for change with the BUM.
Holds self and others accountable for measurable and cost-effective results; follows through on commitments; can be counted upon to successfully execute goals as assigned by the BUM.
There is a significant value for knowledge and experience in commercial sales, fabrication, profiling, flat rolled sheet and plate.
A candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset and some knowledge in basic metallurgy, in addition to previous P&L responsibility, is desirable.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for assisting/participating in contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers.

Responsible for overseeing operations as assigned.
3.
Candidate hopefully has operational management experience or exposure.
4.
Understands inventory management and forecasts.
5.
Can assist in pricing policy, price maintenance, price schedules, evaluation, and approval of off list prices.
6.
Focuses on sales/margin/profit growth.
7.
Heavily involved in managing, reporting, and improving key performance metrics including safety, inventory, quality, cost, and productivity.
8.
Helps drive Process/continuous improvement.
9.
Participates in developing and guiding new product programs to ensure sustained profit growth within the business unit.
10.
Effectively contributes to the corporate strategic growth plan via annual business audits, evaluations, and submission of multi-year business plans.
11.
Assists where needed on staffing within the business unit.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position helps manage all employees of the facility and may oversee the performance management and hiring of employees within certain departments.
Travel:
This position requires up to 25 percent travel.
